The scope and sequence in
the CTC science classes depends on the ultimate goal of the students and
parents. The following electives will
be offered, and will meet the Jr. High Science requirements: Life Science and Earth Science. General high school science classes that
will be offered are: Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry. Forensic Science will also be offered in the
2008-2009 school year and will meet high school graduation requirements.

For the elementary science class, we will use BJU Press Level 4 Science
curriculum (copyright, 2008). This
course will include a study of the moon, simple machines, plants, trees,
digestion, oceans, light, insects, arachnids, myriapods, area, volume and
electricity. Experiments will be
conducted within the framework of the text by the instructor and as group
demonstrations led by the students. As
a way to enhance scientific learning and develop research skills, additional
requirements will include a science exhibit due in April and two reports on
topics chosen from the fields of life, earth, physical, or biological
sciences. One field trip per semester
will be arranged. Class textbooks are available locally at
Mardels.

Students will learn to discern truth concerning creation vs. evolution. Class
topics will include: the Foundations of
Life Science, Heredity and the Origin of Life, Concepts in Microbiology and
Plant Biology, Concepts in the Animal Kingdom, the Nature of the Environment
and Structure and Function of the Human Body. Students will participate in science through lecture, labs
(including dissections), discussions, observation exercises, tests and homework

topics covered will be: fields of study in forensic science, the importance of
