MATHEMATICS
The scope and sequence for CTC math classes are as follows: CTC recommends that each student progress as far as abilities allow in the Algebra curriculum. Geometry is recommended after Algebra 1. Business Math is offered to all high school students. Consult one of the Math teachers if you have a question about which class your student should take. There are math placement tests to help you make the best decision.

This class uses the multi-sensory
Math-U-See curriculum, which uses hands-on manipulatives and systematic review,
helping to reinforce the link between "seeing" math and
"understanding" math. Some of
the concepts covered will include: addition and subtraction of fractions with
equal and unequal denominators, multiplication and division of fractions, prime
factorization, linear measure, solving for the unknown with multiplicative
inverse and fractional coefficients and transforming a fraction to a decimal to
a percent. Supply fee includes student
notebook, handouts, extra activity sheets and hands-on materials as
needed. Manipulative blocks and
fraction overlays will be used in whole group setting and will be supplied by
the tutor. Purchase of individual
manipulative blocks, fraction overlays or the Epsilon Teacher Kit for parents is
