Summary of 4.28.09 Graduation Meeting

1) CTC families need to complete required volunteer hours by May 7 (unless other arrangements have been made).

2) Angie Hawkins will now be graduating with CTC which brings the total to 27.

3) Reminder: CTC students are still expected to attend classes on May 12th, 13th, & 14th.

4) Service Committee passed out the following:

  • Remaining cap & gowns
  • Diplomas (Please remember that at the graduation ceremony, only the diploma folder will be handed to the student)
  • There are extra announcements available for $1.25 each. Please see Jerrylene Birchett if you need more. The money will go to Jostens, not CTC.

5) The rehearsal and graduation schedule was reviewed (Service committee was asked to contact people not present at the meeting).

6) The budget was discussed – there were no questions.

7) Receipts were turned in to Jerrylene Birchett and payment was received. (If payment is needed in advance for graduation supplies, see Jerrylene for a check).

8) Senior tables – There will be 14 eight foot tables; each graduate will receive half a table (a 4-foot section) for their display.

9) Dress requirements for program and reception:

  • No flip-flops because of the health hazard associated with marching up and down stairs.
  • Church attire (dress pants for men, nice pants, skirt or dress for ladies)

10) Cap and Gown:

  • Demo white collar—only for girls—use safety pins, not the provided tape.
  • Let Susan know if anyone is planning on wearing any type of banner over their gown. No one had issues with students wearing their banners (honor society).

11) Decorating cars – Not on CTC property – If this rule is broken, it is a possibility that the participating students will not graduate.

12) Committee Reports:

  • Programs were checked to make sure spelling was correct. If you were not present at the meeting, call Kim Mason to check your student's name.

  • No list of accomplishments will be read for each student; only the student and parent's names will be read. This is so that the students that may not have a list of accomplishments will recognize that their achievement of graduating is exceptional as well.

  • Shane Hammond from Rachel's Challenge will be speaking, 4 graduates will participate in the ceremony through speaking, praying and singing and Debbie Cleveland will be the MC.

  • Set up and Clean Up Committee said they live to serve...

  • Black table clothes will be used on student's display tables. If you choose to use other colored drapes or display boards, you may.

  • Hang up the graduate's gown & let the wrinkles fall out.

  • Please plan ahead for your graduate's display table or all your student will have on their 4-foot section is their name.

  • If you bring your 4 dozen homemade or bakery equivalent cookies Friday evening, please bring in a disposable airtight container. Arranging the cookies on nice disposable trays is fine if you want to bring them on Saturday.

  • May 1st or 2nd the graduates are planning an activity – possibly bowling. Thursday, May 7th, CTC students will meet for a senior lunch between 11:30 and 12:15.

  • Parents viewed the DVD produced by Mr. Boyd to look for errors in audio, names written on screen, and to verify that all seniors are included. It looked great!
