Summary of 2.10.09 Graduation Meeting

 

1. Two new families have joined (Welcome Bogard and Hash families)

2. There are only two meetings left: February 24 and April 28. There will be no meeting in March due to spring break. By February 24, all major planning for graduation needs to be finished. Contact the coordinator for your committee and make sure you’ve completed your assigned task. April’s meeting should only be used to wrap up last minute details.

3. You should have received an invoice from Jostens Graduation Services. If you have not placed a cap and gown order, that order must be placed and paid for by February 24. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY FEBRUARY 24. Jostens can be contacted using the following: 9242 S Sheridan, Suite 1; Phone – 497-5970; FAX – 497-5972; email – gradserv1 @ aol.com.

4. Location for graduation is First Baptist Church Broken Arrow (100 West Albany) – map is on their website http://www.fbcba.org/. Date of graduation is May 9 at 4:00 pm

5. Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

6. Photographer is Aaron Steele. He will be at the February 24 meeting to show what packets are available as well as answer any questions.

7. Committee Reports:

  • Program Committee –
    • Any student interested in giving an address to the student body needs to e-mail their speech to Kim Mason at kmason @ cox.net by this Friday, February 13.
    • Any student interested in performing during the graduation needs to contact Susan Grice – 261-8031 by Friday, February 13.
    • Privacy skirting can be set up to give the auditorium at First Baptist BA a more intimate setting.
    • Each graduate will receive a row that can seat 9 guests. There will be plenty of seating for all invited guests, but only 9 can sit up front on the graduate’s pew.
    • During the reception, it was suggested that the graduate’s video be run on the TV screens in the fellowship hall. Mrs. Strelow replied that Mr. Boyd’s permission was needed as well as the consent of the lighting tech at First Baptist BA.
  • Service Committee –
    • $75 due now
    • Make sure your graduate’s name and school are spelled correctly for diplomas
    • Those who completed audio-taping on the 31st may pick up their graduate’s video pictures.
  • Set up & Clean up – nothing reported
  • Activities –
    • Seniors met for snacks & fun
    • Seniors are to bring their ideas for another ‘Senior Celebration’ to the February 24 meeting.
    • It is too late to start a memory book unless someone wants to take on this project. Cost of $20-25 will be added to each graduate’s graduation fee if the memory book is created.

8. Currently, the cost per graduate is $165 unless a committee needs more money. If a committee needs more funding, the committee must report this to Susan Strelow before the February 24 meeting. The budget will be voted on February 24 and after that time THE BUDGET CANNOT BE CHANGED.
