Summary of 11.28.06 Graduation Meeting

 

1. Student participation in the graduating ceremony

  • If you are interested in speaking, a written speech must be turned in to Becky Wilson by Jan. 23, 2007.
  • If you are interested in performing at the ceremony (vocal or instrumental), contact Becky Wilson by Jan. 23, 2007.

2. Committee coordinators

  • Please contact coordinators with questions or concerns. Then If the coordinator needs help they will contact Susan.

3. Applications

  • All seniors planning to participate in the 2007 graduation will need to fill out an application and pay $100.00, $50.00 for October, and $50.00 for November.

4. Jostens Orders

  • All orders were due at the November meeting.
  • A $60.00 deposit is required tonight. The remainder will be billed from Jostens
  • Prepackaged orders do not include the cap and gown.
  • Anyone unable to turn in their order tonight will need to make arrangements with Jostens.
  • Jostens can be reached at 298-3131
  • CTC will not be responsible after the November meeting.

5. Report on location

  • Three locations were considered for the graduation ceremony:
    • Garnett Road Church of Christ-used the last 3 years
    • Cedar Ridge Christian Church
    • Evergreen Baptist Church-currently under construction to be completed in January

6. Vote on location

  • Garnett Road Church of Christ was unanimously chosen for the 2007 graduation.

7. Discuss graduation verses

  • Five verses were considered, all nominated by the seniors.
    • Psalms 20:4
    • Jeremiah 29:11
    • Romans 12:1-2
    • I Peter 2:9
    • I Timothy 4:12

8. Vote on Verse

  • Psalms 20:4 was chosen as the graduation verse, this will be on the announcements and possibly used other places during the ceremony
    • Psalms 20:4 “May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” NIV

9. Discuss budget

  • Each committee should work on the budgets at this meeting in preparation of submission.

10. Discuss the memory book

  • The Rook family has offered to handle the memory book
  • Cost should be around $15.00
  • A vote will be taken at the next meeting in January
  • It is not necessary to buy a book to have a page included.
  • All seniors will be encouraged to submit a page so the book will be complete.
  • It is possible that an extra payment of $15.00 will need to be paid in order to pay for this book. Only those buying the book would need to make the extra payment.

11. Committee Meetings

  • All parents are required to participate in a committee.
  • Those parents not already signed up for a committee will need to participate in the reception committee.
  • A handout was given to help coordinate the meeting
  • All seniors met with the activity committee to plan their activities.

12. Required at the November meeting

  • Graduation applications filled out
  • Second payment made of $50.00 to CTC
  • Sign ups for audio times on Tuesday, Jan 23 or Saturday Jan. 27

13. Information about audio taping

  • Times: January 23 4:30-6:00 or January 27 9:30-12:00
  • You must sign up for a time slot
  • Everyone must come 10 minutes early
  • Bring 5 large good quality photos that are not cluttered, no polaroid’s
    Each family will have 60 seconds
  • Bring your script written down
  • Anyone who can’t come at the scheduled times and dates will need to pay $45.00 to arrange your own time.

14. Next group meeting

  • Tuesday January 23
  • 4:00-6:00 audio taping at scheduled times
  • 6:30 Regular meeting (Committees will meet and then report)
