Summary of 10.24.06 Graduation Meeting

 

1. David Boyd reviewed the different parts of the video

  • Audio taping---sign up next month for the audio taping session in January. Each family will have an opportunity to record 60 seconds (can be shared by several family members). This audio runs in the background while the 5 photographs are visually on the screen.
  • Photographs---high quality photos needed (David provided examples)
    • The photos should progress from birth to senior picture. David discouraged the use of polaroids. He recommended 8x10 photos or photos without cluttered backgrounds because he will need to focus in on the senior. Bring your photos to the audio taping in January.
  • Taping the ceremony

2. Bob Howard passed out graduation packets and explained ordering.

  • Yellow-highlighted boxes are OPTIONAL packages.
  • Read instructions on back of form before filling out in BLACK or BLUE INK. Circles are to be colored in like on a test, and squares require a number.
  • Turn in orders to Bob Howard BEFORE NOV. 30 or bring to the next meeting at CTC on Nov. 28. Orders placed after Dec. 1 will incur late fees. No orders will be accepted at CTC after Nov. 28.
  • Cap, gown and tassel are required to participate in the graduation ceremony.
    • Gowns are made to fit, so please list actual height and weight where indicated. You will be able to keep these items (they are not rented).
  • Any amount of announcements may be ordered. You are not limited to boxes of 25, 50 or 75. (It was suggested that each family make a list of the people they would actually send announcements to before the order is placed. Additional announcements can be purchased later, but it is not recommended.)
  • A $60 deposit is due when the order is placed. Any order less than $60 needs to be paid in full at the time order is placed.
  • Make all checks payable to JOSTENS. For credit card payment, enter information at the bottom of the order form.
  • State tax rate---8.517% (No tax on shipping and handling)
  • Rings ordered with cap and gown does not require an additional deposit.

3. Basic Information

  • CTC facilitates the graduation but students are not graduating from CTC
  • Diplomas will be made out to your specifications (CTC’s name will not be listed on the diploma)
  • CTC does not keep records or provide transcripts
  • Families responsibilities:
    1. Attending every meeting at CTC (parents and students)
    2. Serving on committees
    3. Keep updated by checking the website for announcements and meeting summaries

4. Budget----Cost will be determined by the number of participants. Approx. $150 per family was predicted (payable in payments of $50)

  • Cost includes 1 group photo, diploma, room rental, set-up, clean-up, honorarium for speakers, roses for Moms, refreshments (partial or in full depending on funds available), paper goods, serving table decorations, copies for meetings, and video
  • Cap and gowns are required (additional $20 to purchase).
  • Other items NOT included: announcements, other photographs, memory book, and additional decorations

5. Announcements and colors

  • Cardinal and silver (Chosen by ballot )
  • Announcement was chosen by ballot

6. Date and location

  • Graduation will be on Saturday, May 12th (time options were discussed)
  • Location will be decided by a committee of participants (3 locations were nominated: Cedar Ridge Christian, Evergreen Baptist, and Garnett Church of Christ)

7. Yearbook information was passed out to CTC students and ads were discussed. Please contact Kim Mathis at 455-4972 for more information.

8. Aaron Steele was chosen as the graduation photographer. Graduating families had the opportunity to view his portfolio and discuss group portrait options.

9. Next meeting will be November 28 at 6:30PM.

  • Jostens order and $60 deposit to Jostens.
  • Application and $50 payment to CTC
