This course will use Dave Ramsey's high school curriculum, "Foundations
in Personal Finance." I will be supplementing this course with handouts
from a study in World Economics. This program will cover all 14 points
of Oklahoma's personal financial and economic literacy standards. This
class will take a hands on, involved approach to learning how to: Save
and Invest, Avoid Debt, Consumer Awareness, Bargain Shopping, Budgeting,
Insurance, Careers, Taxes, and The Power of Giving. The World Economic
portion will give awareness to how the different economic systems of the
world operate as compared to ours. Students will participate in class
discussions about workbook assignments and videos viewed in class. Students
will be expected to have access to the Internet to complete the project
portion of this course. Supply fees cover all basic materials for this
class including workbook. Students may be added mid-year with tutor's
permission.

This course is excellent for the college-bound student, as it qualifies
as a high school level elective credit. Yearbook production typically
runs from Sept-Feb. Students can expect assignments and duties to extend
beyond the allocated class time including, but not limited to the following:
photography assignments, theme developments, story ideas, organizing sale
and distribution of the yearbook, advertising sales, completion of computer
pages, as well as establishing and meeting and publication deadlines.
CTC standards and expectations take precedence. Students must maintain
the integrity and secrecy of the publication. While individual work is
necessary, working as a team is also essential. Students are further expected
to maintain computer equipment. Attendance and punctuality to class and
to all deadlines is paramount. This class will run from the beginning
of the school year until Spring Break.
