This is beginner’s class in the basic principles of drawing, color theory and painting. We will start with black and white drawing techniques, using pencil, charcoal, pen and ink and then move toward color, using a variety of color mediums.  The goal of this class is to encourage a love for art, spark creativity and instill confidence in drawing and painting.  The students will have an opportunity to show their best pieces in the school art show twice a year.  Art supplies are expensive, therefore, the majority of supplies will be for classroom use, however, on occasion students will be able to take home supplies when required by assignment.

This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced art student.  Pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, pastel and watercolor techniques will be explored through group as well as individual projects.  Originality and creativity will be encouraged.  Students can expect to spend half an hour to two hours a week on homework projects.  The students will have an opportunity to show their best pieces in the school art show twice a year. Art supplies are expensive, therefore, the majority of supplies will be for classroom use, however, on occasion students will be able to take home supplies when required by assignment.

This is a hands-on art appreciation class, in which we will explore the influence of art through the ages.  We will look at tasteful examples of artwork done during the different periods of art history.  We will take a look at Egyptian, Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, Impressionist, Expressionist and Modern Art.  We will also study various artists who influenced world history.  Using various media such as colored pencils, watercolor paints, pastels, acrylics, and mosaics, and clay, each student will have an opportunity to create artwork in the style of each artist discussed.  The students will also have an opportunity to show their best pieces in the school art show twice a year.  Art supplies are expensive, therefore, the majority of supplies will be for classroom use, however, on occasion students will be able to take home supplies when required by assignment.

This class will be for the more advanced & serious art student, who would like to spend extended time on individualized art projects. We will work on projects with both chalk and oil pastels.  Because of the duration of each project, students will only be able to work on 6-8 projects during the school year, with an opportunity to show their best pieces in the school art show twice a year.  Art supplies are expensive, therefore, the majority of supplies will be for classroom use, however, on occasion students will be able to take home supplies when homework required by assignment.
