This class is for the students who like to get their hands messy. We
will be doing six large projects, all of which the students will build
with their own hands. Students will get to work with clay, cardboard,
wood, and anything that requires using their imagination. Other projects
will include: Hidden Art, Build a Room, Canvas Sculpture, Your Personality,
and Design a Movie/Book set. The materials for these projects can be found
in class or they can be brought in. We will take the week before the new
project to talk about the project and suggest materials to get started.
Students may work on their projects on their own time.

This class is for any student who would like to learn about the Masters
of art. We will learn all there is to know about the foundation of the
art we have today, as well as learn about some of the most known and not
so known artists who helped shape the art world. The student will receive
handouts from each artist and techniques that we study. During the time
we study a certain topic the students will learn how to paint using that
technique. Michelangelo, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, Walt Disney, Claude
Monet, Georgia O’Keefe, Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Rembrandt, and
Andy Warhol are just a few of the artists we will be studying. Most of
the projects will be done on either canvas or canvas paper. There will
be a quiz on each artist and their technique at the end of each topic
session. Some homework may be required.

This class is for any student who would like to learn the basics of sketching,
cartooning, and calligraphy. We will explore different mediums, such as,
pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, and pen and ink. We will use various
curriculums, including lessons from the book Draw Squad by Mark
Kistler. Mark is an artist that travels the United States teaching kids
to draw. He has had two shows on PBS, The Secret City and Mark Kistler’s
Draw Squad. Students will learn many drawing techniques, including perspective,
shadowing, contouring, overlapping, foreshortening, etc. Students’
art will be displayed twice a year. Due to the fact that art supplies
are expensive, they will be mostly for classroom use. Students will have
drawing assignments for homework each week.
